Frequently Asked Questions
- 01. How much will it cost?
Hopefully, nothing! In return for raising a minimum amount of sponsorship money, your jump and training costs will be covered. You will need to pay the deposit when you book your place, but this can be refunded to (by cheque, sent to your ome address) you when you obtain the minimum amount of sponsorship, should you so wish, or it can be left as part of your sponsorship. The deposit amount is between £50 and £100 depending on your jump site.
We would ask that you try to raise at least £600 for Saying Goodbye and aim for £1000 (as you will then be raising £1 for every baby you are representing. Also you will make it to our Hall of Fame!)
The minimum amount will need to be paid in (either via online fundraising or directly to the charity's bank account) at least 2 weeks before your jump date. If this is not paid in on time then the charity cannot pay the jump site and your jump may be cancelled.
- 02. Where can I jump?
There are currently 8 sites spread across the UK that we have already used (see here for the list). However if you know of a jump site which is more convenient for your location please mention this when contacting us as we may be able to arrange this for you.
- 03. Can I raise money using sponsor forms?
Yes! Once you have registered and paid your deposit, an electronic copy of a sponsor form will be emailed to you. However it is often easier to raise money online as there is no need to worry about chasing people for sponsor money after you've jumped. Also by donating online it is easier for Saying Goodbye to claim Gift Aid which helps a great deal.
- 04. Are there any age restrictions?
You need to be at least 16 years old to jump and if you are under 18 you will need parental consent.
If aged 40 and over you will need a GP letter to confirm you are fit to jump. Please note that there will likely be an additional cost (to your GP) to obtain a letter of fitness.
Medical conditions – you will be asked by the airfield to confirm any medical conditions. Please note these medical conditions may prevent you from being able to fly / jump. Please check the jump site's terms & conditions before booking.
- 05. Is there a maximum weight for jumping?
Most sites have maximum weight limits of 13 to 15 stone for a tandem jump. However this does vary dependent upon where you jump and some sites are stricter than others so you will need to check the conditions at your chosen site before booking. Different airfields have different regulations.
